The Christian Life is a fight. It’s an uphill struggle. Sometime’s it’s a fight for survival. Other times it feels simply like a massive weight.

There’s a verse that’s part of a story that many of us know - David and Goliath. Just before David fights his first battle against a man (which happens to be the biggest warrior from the opposition) he says the following words

For the battle is the LORD’s…

The fight that we are up against at times feels like it’s against the world, other times against ourselves. But, neither these two views show the fullness of the Christian ‘fight’.

As the battle belongs to the LORD it means that he has control over it. And as we are sons and daughters of God, we’re never gonna lose.

It’s that simple. Seriously.

The fight I’m in is more like a boxing ring, where the opponent is God - only, He’s my trainer and is pushing me to my limit because he knows what’s best for me and understands how I think, work and act.

Every situation I am in that feels like a fight is another training ground, another way of growing me to become the person that God has planned. God knows my limits, and how I can grow - it’s because of this that I will never lose (I might slip up, but I will never lose). In reality it’s not even a case of ‘losing’, because it’s not a game with two opponents (God already dealt with any opposition, thanks!) - it’s God, and I - and He’s on my side.

The fight we’re in is a daily struggle, but we can view it one of two ways - the first is that I’m here solo and it’s ‘me vs. the World’, OR that God is in control and beside me every step of the way.

The more comforting view is the second, and thankfully it’s what the Bible says.

Fight. Hard. Because the harder you punch, the stronger you become.

Only for the King
