E ai galera! My name is Jason and I’ve been sent by Christian Life Centre to be a part of Sal da Terra Igreja in Uberlandia, Brazil. The sending was part of a bigger picture that I feel God has put on my life. The journey to Brazil in fact started last year (2010) when I received a prophetic word from another New Frontiers pastor in Manchester, which has been clarified and honed many times since then.

I plan to be here in Brazil for 1 ½ years, although knowing God this is going to be longer (already I’m thinking of 2 years). The reasons for my time in Brazil are varied; from simply extending the relationship between Sal da Terra and Christian Life Centre, to being involved in their (Sal da Terra) School of Church planting, from seeing how the gospel is applied in a different culture to helping out with media and worship.

At the moment I am here to simply learn the language, make friends, understand the culture (which is unbelievably different to England) and see how the church works. This is to prepare me for the EPI (School of Church Planting) which all leaders in Sal da Terra go through. It is a 6 month intensive modular training course with both practical and spiritual application which I will start in January. As part of this and my time in Brazil, my particular churches are going to be Manifesto and Centroeste. Manifesto is a church that is reaching out into the underground community in Uberlandia – that is, the Metal Heads, Punks, Emos and the like. It has two meetings per week, one on Saturday nights which is more evangelistic (imagine mosh pits and skanking).  Centroeste is the main Sal da Terra church and is the basis for most of the evangelism. This has meetings almost every day and sees thousands of people pass through the doors during the week. Two contrasting churches but with the same desire – to see God move in the city and the culture.

I am being mainly supported by family and CLC, with a few other friends from various places. I am hugely grateful for the contributions and without which I wouldn’t be able to be here and follow what I believe God has called me to. But if you feel God calling you to give please get in contact with any of the leaders at CLC. I am here to bless as well as be blessed, so I try to give away in blessings a certain proportion of what I receive. Also, if you have a particular heart for anything that is happening in Brazil and would like me to do something on your behalf don’t hesitate to ask!

This is me and my journey in Brazil. Looking forward to seeing and hearing from you in the (not too distant future).

Only for the King
